And now we are Four

Allison has arrived. It's awesome to be able to share this cycling experience with girls I have followed on Zwift and Strava for many years.  Never met before, but feel like I have known these girls forever.  Its so cool.

Yesterday we headed up to the beautiful town of Selva for the start of the Sa Calobra Climb.  Silky smooth tarmac, little traffic to Coll de Femenia, then we turned right and headed down the super long decent, dodging a few roaming sheep, to our coffee break at the Twin Sisters, in Pollenca, before returning back to our base via tiny back roads.

The amount of riders going up to the Sa Calobra Climb, from the coast was amazing, at a guess I'd say 1000 or more. All shapes and sizes, young and old, big groups and singles.  All with one goal in mind, get to the top.

The traffic also, was much busier on this side, with lots of buses and car's, coming up from the coast.

Today we wake to a very light mist, but heavy dark clouds cover the Serra de Tramuntana Mountain range, just behind us, so we decide to ride south east to avoid the moisture. Lisa once again does her magic and chooses the route for the day, which we all load onto our head units, a necessity in case one wants to return home earlier or 'more the case' gets distracted and lost, in those tiny winding streets of the World Heritage towns we pass through.

It's a cool 12 degrees as we head off, towards the historic town on Sineu, through Almond and Orange Groves, to their famous outdoor Velodrome. It's a short circuit of 333 metres, but there is no way I'm getting on those worryingly steep sides.  I'd come-a-gutsa, for sure.

We continue on towards our climb for the day, Coll de Randa, the vegetation has changed somewhat to Canola and Wheat crops, thanks for the identification Allison, on very quite country roads, with little traffic. It's a fairly easy, steady climb, less than 5 kilometres in length, average gradient of 5% and nothing steeper than 8% around the tight corners. On top provides great views of the Islands flatlands, views of the Tramuntana mountains on a clear day, (but not today) Palma the capital in the distance with of course, the Mediterranean Sea

Chilly on top for sure,  but with a hot coffee, jackets on we enjoy the ride down and long ride back to our base, towed along by Allison, our wonderful domestic.
