Blowing a gale

Another stunning coastal ride yesterday, harder to appreciate the views, with the wind gusts. Pushing uphill against strong head winds, is nothing short of a slog. Luckily a noice German fellow, twice as wide as me and just as tall as Chris Wall, rode past at a critical moment on a climb out of the coastal down of Deia and I latched on.  Definitely not the entire climb, but significant hill relief.

Rode past a poor fellow who had hit the wall, head hanging down almost to his chest, slowly turning those pedals over, even I passed him, twice as I stopped for a photo.  I thought maybe I should have shared my lollies!

One little incident I have to confess, coming out of the Northern Gorg Blau tunnel, which leads to a long downhill into Soller, I needed to put my jacket on.  Pulled over onto the gravel, got uncoordinated trying to unclip my cleat and accidentally rode directly into a tall Italian fellow, 'sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry'

I said as he held onto my handle bars.  'Thats ok, it happens all the time, because I am very beautiful'

I was so embarrassed, I couldn't look up, his mate was laughing away.  Pretended I didn't hear as I walked to the view point.  'How could you tell he was Italian?' Dave said, 'Oh I could just tell!

A few photo stops but not many.  Maybe the best lunch we have had so far. A lot of people out and about, in car's, buses and just as many bikes and walkers with poles, all celebrating Mallorca Labour Day holiday.  A celebration for the 1st day of Summer, though you wouldn't know it, freezing on the downhills.

Amazing coastal house perched on cliff tops and lots walking tracks we can see in the distance, along those craggy mountains, hmmm something to keep in mind when I quit cycling..............

Great route, plotted out by Dave, 1,850 metres of climbing over 108 km, made for a great day out.
